Abstract
Contrary to logic: Georgia is going on living with the past and unrealizable hopes.
Georgia does not want to accept the loss of Abkhazia. It can be understood. No one wants to lose such a fabulous land which had served a patrimony for the Georgian nobility for a long time. Yearning for the loss is unbearable for all of them. They only forget in Tbilisi that they had started a bloody war against Abkhazia at the result of which the invaders suffered a crushing defeat and the Abkhazian people gained their independence.
More than three years ago Russia recognized the independence of Abkhazia (as well as South Ossetia), and its example was followed by a number of other states-members of the UNO. It is clear that life cannot be ordered to flow according to somebody’s wish. The Georgian side does not seem to understand it This is being the principal reason of a non-productivity of the negotiations between Georgia and Abkhazia. Significant responsibility in the absence of the progress in the solution of the conflict between those countries is bared by the West demonstrating its special interests and trying with the methods of sophistic to justify the solicitations of Georgia toward independent republics Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
The preservation of independence of Abkhazia is a categorical imperative for our people. It was paid by the lives of the best sons of ?psny and our brothers from the Northern Caucasus and the Turkish and Syrian diasporas. Hopes that Russia would recall its recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia are unreal. There is no alternative to that. Until Tbilisi and its protectors from the West recognize that the menace of war between Georgia and Abkhazia and Georgia and South Ossetia will be preserved.
