Abstract


Activities and Establishment of Smyrna Station in the Reports of American Protestant Missionaries(1820-1900)
Smyrna was the most impartant port city in the Ottoman Empire. This city, developed trade in the XIX century, was not only foreign traders but also especially missionaries very significant. The United States of America operated in Smyrna with both their traders and missionaries. The missionaries of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions started to operate in Smyrna in 1820. At the begining they gave a great importance to improve educational activities among the Armenians and Greeks, Espacially, the women eduction was very impartant fort he American missionaries They worked to increase the number of Protestant and adopt the American culture in thi region.<
