Abstract

THE ISSUE OF THE STATUS OF CASPIAN SEA OF THE POST COLD WAR TERMS: ANALYSIS OF THE APPROACHES OF THE COASTAL STATES
The disintegration of the Soviet Union has revealed new areas of struggle together with new countries on the world. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Caspian region has become a new regional and international geopolitical struggle for influence. This region is rich in hydrocarbon resources and attracts the attention of major influential actors in world politics. Together with the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Caspian region has become the world's third largest hydrocarbon reserves. Also the new republics (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan) which have gained its independence gave impetus to the development of multilateral diplomacy in the Caspian region. The newly independent Caspian states began to consider the Caspian region through its national interests and security. However, this perception of the region confronts the interests of the Caspian States in terms of the status of the Caspian sea and oil pipelines. The status of the Caspian sea makes it even more important. In this article, we analyzed the status of the Caspian sea and the main theses of coastal states on the status of the Caspian sea in the framework of international law.<
